hmm I think of myself as paradoxical : A non vegetarian who doesnt like to kill or hurt other living things, A ceaseless romantic who sometimes thinks that relationships are just not worth gettin into since someone eventually gets hurt, A dreamer who ends up being more realistic, A pessimist who hides his optimism in pessimism & finally just another normal human being.

Grades Vs Funding

In India we are so closely monitoring our grades and get very concerned when we dont get the 100 on 100 score, atleast I used to be like that.

Now here I am back in school with a nice grade after my first quarter and am happy about it, no doubt. But reality slaps me on my face because I am still paying $16000 per semester and have not put in any effort to get any kind of funding. And I am supposed to hunt for an internship for Summer.

I envy the people who have some form of assistantship because they were able to put in that effort and succeeded in it. Why am I unable to start ?

I am so concerned about all my assignments that I stay up till 2 - 3AM on most days to complete them, and I stay up late to catch up on coursework. Now all this affects my grades.

How do I strike the balance between internship hunting , assistantship/funding hunting and scoring a high grade ?

Am I trying to be an over achiever ?

It's just that I have been brainwashed by the Indian education system into believing that grades are the most important thing in life.
Even though I have seen other top scorers from my school and undergrad end up in the suckiest of jobs, I am not learning that lesson. Grades dont make me , I make me ;-) (how is that for being philosophical)

B school made me forget the 3rd anniversary :(

I started my MBA at Krannert (Purdue) on Aug 1st.
It has been quite interesting ;-)

Accounting opened my eyes to a whole NEW world :P

The multi cultural experience is definitely the big PLUS for the US universities compared to our great IIM's.

My first quarter exams start on tuesday ...it has been hectic and even made me miss the 3rd year anniversary of my blog.

Well a big hurrah for me and my blog ...yayyyyy.
