hmm I think of myself as paradoxical : A non vegetarian who doesnt like to kill or hurt other living things, A ceaseless romantic who sometimes thinks that relationships are just not worth gettin into since someone eventually gets hurt, A dreamer who ends up being more realistic, A pessimist who hides his optimism in pessimism & finally just another normal human being.

ignorant slob

This is a rant about a guy I saw in Chicago. I had gone to the Aurora Hindu temple when I went to Chicago. After the darshan was over , me and my aunt went down to the room where they sold prasadham.

So after buying some prasadham we sat at a table. Now this temple is very famous amongst the south indians living in Chicago, and I had gone to this temple on April 14 (Tamil new Year Day).. so there was quite a large number of namma oor makkal ;).

A disclaimer here : I have nothing against georgetown university & I mean no disrespect to it's students.

Well anyway while we were sitting at the table another family with a guy who was about 18-22 yrs old and who was wearing a t-shirt with "GEORGETOWN" emblazoned on it, sat next to us to eat the snacks. The parents looked like typical south indians and spoke in normal Indian accent.. but our hero was speaking in a wild american accent ( I mean even americans dont speak like that). It was real weird hearing him.

I was thinking deiii adangudaa thambi. Then i thought mebbe he was born and brought up in usa and thats why he was speaking in such an accent i.e american born confused desi :-)

So our Indian (quasi-American) teen gets up and goes towards the drinking water fountain (like the ones found in a lot of public places in USA) where there is a neat & very legible display that said "Please do not wash your hands here". And in fact the restrooms were right next to that sign. Our damn stylish stupid D#$%head goes straight towards that water dispenser and washed his hands right there.

moral of the story .. However much ur educated if you dont even have the basic common sense, then you are an imbecile thats it.

@ ibh
well i guess i did not have the courage to go and confront the guy in front of his parents :)..
At that instant what i felt was this :
The guy seemed to be trying real hard to be an american & then he washes his hands there .. i mean i didnt know whether he was trying to act cool or just plain dumb :)
